LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.
Epsom.—There was a record attend- j ance at the last meeting of the Epsom branch of the League of Mothers, held in the Baptist Hall, Inverness Avenue, Epsom. Mrs. Wylie welcomed visitors from Henderson, Sydney and Norfolk Island. The thought for the month was given by Mrs. R. S. Newcombe, and songs were beautifully rendered by Mrs. Rees. Mrs. Dowsett gave an address on "The Sanctity of Marriage." Afternoon tea was served by a committee under the convenership of Mrs. Grainger. Mount Eden.—ln the absence of Mrs. Raeburn, Mrs. Tuck presided at the usual monthly meeting. Mrs. Roach gave an address on "The History of Child Welfare" during the last 100 years, showing how much had been done for the interest of the children. Elocution items by Mrs. Mortimer and solos by Mrs. Humphrey-Gordon were greatly appreciated. Afternoon tea was served by the following hostesses: Mesdames Dow, Nicol, Tozer, D. B. Bannatyne, Lewis and Sando. Arapuni.—Mrs. Geddes presided over a large gathering of members and friends. The thought for the month was sent by Mrs. Griffin, who unfortunately is in Waikato Hospital. The roll call, "An economic dish" for a winter tea brought many hints. A competition, "A plate of eggless dainties." was. won by Mrs. Heed. A demonstration on wood pulp flowers was given by Mrs. Heed.
