CORONATION BALL HELD,
Proceedings opened with the singing of the National Anthem by the large gathering in the King's Theatre at Xorthcote last night at the Coronation ball under the au.spiees of the Xorthcote Returned Soldiers' Associatoin. which was a very successful function.
The hall looked attractive with decorations of flags and greenery, and the supper tables were laid out with tastefully arranged vases of bright flowers on a foundation of red. white and blue.
The hostesse were: Mrs. J. K. Bethwaite. wearing a frock of saxe blue georgette and lace, and Mrs. 11. 11. Markwiek. in green moire tall'eta.
The Northeote Women's Pregressivc League was represented by the president, Mrs. Archie Campbell, who wore a frock of black circe, with red, white and blue flowers. The Mayoress of Northeote, Mrs. K. Martin, wore tartan taffeta.
The ladies' committee comprised: Mrs. C. L. Duke, who wore black taffeta; Mrs. W. Powell, blue hiec; Mrs. W. 11. Rossiter, black and gold lame; Mrs. X. S. Davidson, tomato crepe inarocaiii; Mrs. W. Marshall, black panne velvet; Mrs. A. C. T. Winkeliiiann. peach satin; Mrs.- H. JJ. H. Stewart, black taffeta; Mrs. W. Lydiard, Coronation blue satin: Mics. D. AVys-ocki, blue crepe de chiiu-; Mrs. E. G. Bailey, black georgette; Mrs. F. Roberts, wine crepe.
The gathering was welcomed by the president, Mrs. A. V. Tver, who conveyed the congratulations of the returned soldiers and the people of Xortlicote to the vice-patron. Miss Kmily M. Xutsey. on the Coronation honour conferred by the King of Most Excellent Member of the Order of the British Empire.
Messrs. C. L. Duke and F. Robert.officiated a<» masters of ceremonies, and the music was played by an orchestra under Mr. Geoffrey Crawford.
