MISCONDUCT ALLWJED.
The statement that her Chinese husband, to whom she was married at the a<»c of 17. had ill-treated her and h»d desired to send her children to China was made by Florence Mary Chan (Mr. Sullivan), the English wife of Hop Cheung (ban. fruiterer (Mr. DicksonU in her evidence in a defended divorce suit continued at the Supreme Court today before Mr. Justice Callan and a jury.
Chan alleged misconduct against hi* wife in February and March last, in a house at St. Helier's Bey. James Hearn (Mr. Xutsford) was cited as co-respon-dent. The defence was a denial of the allegations.
The respondent, in evidence, stated that she married Chan at the age of IT. She had trouble with her husband because women were brought to their home by uther men. On one occasion, "hen she objected, (.'hen threw a drawer at her and she threw the clock at himShe was bruised by her husband** assault, and consulted a doctor.
About 41 years a«;o her husband sent one of their three children to China without her consent. This year he had wanted to m>u<l the other two children to China, too.
