Arrested at St. Helier's last night on charges of being disorderly while drunk in Cliff Koad, and of resisting Detective L, Wilson while in the c.\e-u----tion of his duty, Norman Kiiteher. aged 23, a mechanic, appeared in the Police Court this morning, before .Messrs. .1. 11. Paterson and J. Hislop. J.lYs. lit pleaded guilty to both che.rges. Detective-Sergeant McHugh said a message was received at 11.10 last night from a resident of St. Heiier's that a car was being driven in art ..erratic, manner. The police night patrol car .was dispatched, and Detective L. Wilson found a motor car stalled on a steep incline. Butcher, another man and two girls were in the car. which could not be started again. Butcher refused to produce his driver's license or give his name and address, and became abusive and disorderly. Pie was therefore arrested. "He refused to get into the police car. and struggled and resisted violently,' said"Mr. McHugh. "Butcher U a married man in a good job. He has never been in trouble before. Drink seems to be the cause of last night's trouble. He would rrot listen to his companion, who did his best to pacify hirii and make him see reason." Convicted and discharged on the first charge, Butcher was fined £3. or seven days' imprisonment, for resisting the detective. He was allowed seven days in which to pay the fine."
