Mr. W. i •-tated this morning that the Depart ! ment proposed to prosecute in all cases of failure to pay holiday wages to • employees eligible for such payment under the dairy factories employees' award. The Auckland award provided for an annual holiday. Tf this holiday was not given to any worker entitled to it under ; the award the matter should be immediately reported to' the responsible officer of the Department nearest to the factory concerned. If it were f.v.ind after inquiry that a breach of the award had been permitted a prosecution would immediately follow. Mr. Slaughter added that the head office of th-» Department in Wellington was in agreement with the attitude he had adopted on the question.
