ATTITUDE OF EMPLOYERS.

An official of the Employers' Association stated this morning that there was no suggestion of any intention by. the employers to in any way attempt to defeat the provisions of the award. However, as doubt had arisen on the point, it was obvious that the position had to be clarified in order to obviate confusion in the future, whenever Anzae Day happened to fall on a Sunday. With this end in view, the official stated, employers were not refusing to pay. bu< were merely withholding the holiday pay, and, if "necessary, lodging it with the Department of Labour^for disbursement in accordance with the interpretation of the Court. It was expected that the Court's ruling would be applied for next week. If it were decided that the workers were to be paid, the disbursement would be made immediately.
