INFANTILE PARALYSIS

AUCKLAND NOTIFICATIONS. j Several i suspected cases of infantile paralysis were notified tn the Health Department in Auckland to-day. . One case was a boy at St. Helier's, : while a doubtful case, a girl, was; reported from "Whitianga. A girl aged j seven years was reported from the Thames as a mild case. _____ j (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Monday. "We have had cases in this district alreadyv and what are a few weeks' schooling if we can save only one child," stated Mr. R. Wilcox at to-day's meeting of the Franklin County Council. Mr. Wilcox said that the council should request that schools in the district, if not all schools in the province, be closed immediately. At a school like the Pukekohe Technical High School pupils came from all parts of the district within a radius of 25 miles. The council decided to telegraph a request to the Health Department asking for the immediate closing of schools, and pointing out the need for drastic measures in combating the spread of the ej)idemic.
