TO MARK 75TH BIRTHDAY. HARDY ONERAHI RESIDENT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. To celebrate his 75th birthday, Mr. Samuel Edward Baigent, of Onerahi, held a tennis party and took an active part in the tournament. The birthday fell on a Saturday, and the holiday made it easier for Mr. Baigent's friends- from all parts of the Whangarei district to assemble at the courts of the Onerahi Club, where Mr. Baigent continues to be an active member.

Several complimentary speeches were made at the gathering at Onerahi, and Mr. Baigent was made the recipient of two presentations.

Before his retirement Mn. Baigent managed and owned timber and flax mills in various parts of the country. On Ave occasions he was completely burnt out. "And I never carried a penny of insurance in my life," he says.

For the past five years Mr. and Mrs. Baigent have lived in retirement at Onerahi. On the occasion of his golden .wedding jubilee last year Mr. Baigent walked to the top of Manaia with a party of young folk.
