GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

AUSTRALIAN FOWL WHEAT. MAIZE IS EASIER. The chief feature of the; local grain and produce markets since last report has been the change over from southern to Australian wheat. Stocks are now available for regular trading through store, the price being fixed at about 7/2 per bushel, with certain adjustments for special quantities. There are stil) some holdings of Canterbury from earliei* purchases and for this the price is unaltered at 6/10 per bushel for graded lines. The demand for hor-se feed is very quiet. Oats are steady at 4/10 per bushel for B Gartons, but chaff is very firm and merchants are now asking £9 10/ a ton. They report a firm market in the south, with a difficulty in securing prompt deliveries. The maize market shows an easing tendency, as holders are desirous of reducing stocks in anticipation of imports from overseas, the first of which is due from South Africa about April 10. The pollard market in Australia has firmed up. Supplies are less plentiful and the f.o.b. price lias advanced 2,6 a ton. There is no change locally meanwhile. Bran is in amply supply at late rates. In the potato market merchants continue to rely chiefly upon supplies from the Manawatu, which enjoy a substantial premium over the Pukekohe crop on the score of quality. Onions from Pukekohe sell steadily at about 10/ per cwt. Wholesale Current Prices. Pollard and Bran.—Mill prices: Pollard, £7 per ton; bran, £6.
