SOCIETY WEDDINGS.

FERGUSON—EWEN.

FRAGILE COLOUR SCHEME

Masses of snowy white agapanthus with a background of green asparagus fern and dainty foliage, effectively entwined in St. Mark's Church this afternoon, repeated the delicate green and white colour scheme of the bridal group that gathered at the chaucel steps for the marriage of Miss Joan Vivian Ewen and Mr. John Burns Ferguson. At each pew head were placed more white flowers tied with green shaded satin ribbon.

The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. John F. Ewen, of Remuera Road, and the bridegroom is the second sop of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Ferguson, of Victoria Avenue, Remuera.

The Rev. Percy Houghton performed the ceremony and Mr. Maughan Barnett presided at the organ.

Entering the church with her father, the bride made a charming picture in her lovely Parisian gow% of off-white and silver lame, delicately patterned in miniature rosebuds. A slightly draped neckline softened the medieval bodice, which was outlined at the waist with heavy whipcord. The novel sleeves were draped to the elbow, whence they merged into tight pearl-buttoned wrists. The perfectly-cut skirt with its sweeping folds, terminated into a train that suggested the last note of elegance to the toilette. A diadem of orange blossom buds surmounted the "oluminou« tulle veil that enveloped the gown, and the flowers chosen for her sheaf !->ouqu<;t were fragrant lilies and tuberose*.

Miss Margaret Ewen was her sister's bridesmaid, and her frock of lily-of-the-valley green chiffon mounted on flat crepe, was fashioned with a shnrtwaisted bodice, finished with shirred liows on the shoulders and a row of tiny buttons down the back, while an unusual note was the white ribbon velvet bustle that .topped off the semitrained £ull skirt. A half-circle of tuberoses was worn as a headdress. Three small maids —Anne (sister of the bride), Sue C'olbeok and Judv Reedformed an attractive retinue in their prreen frocks to match the elder attendant's gown. Short full skirts, puff sleeves, Peter Pan collars and white velvet sashes, gave an adorably juvenile effect, which was completed with wreaths of tuheroses on their hair. All carried bouquets of white begonias, tuberoses and gypeophila.

Mr. Roderick Ferguson was best man, iind the ushers at the church were: Messrs. Mervyn Reed, W. Geddes, Mac Geddes, Sam Hanna and Pat Newcombe.

Green and white again predominated in the floral decorations at the beautiful home of the bride's parents, where a large number of guests were entertained after the ceremony. The lounge and drawing room presented a delightfully cool aspect, and the newly-wedded couple received felicitations under a flowered wedding bell. A huge marquee in the grounds was also requisitioned for the enjoyment of .guests.

Mrs. Ewen wore a smart gown of vintage-hued satin back crepe with a diagonal weave. The tunic skirt was bordered with mushroom-toned fur. while deep fur cuffs embellished the elbow sleeves. Her matching hat was finished with osprevs and she carried a bouquet of choice blooms. Mrs. Ferguson, the bridegroom's mother, was in deep amethyst satin, with lace draperies on the sleeves and yoke. Her black ospreyed hat was outlined with a small eye veil. Mrs. Mcintosh (Wellington). grandmother of the bride, wore black georgette and black hat with osprevs. Mrs. Mervyn Reed (sister of the bridegroom), iceblue crepe embroidered in pink roses, pink picture hat; Mrs. Grey Colbeck (bridegroom's sister), mustard and brown flat crepe with nutbrown embroidered hat: Miss M. Mcintosh (bride's aunt), mulberry windswept crepe, hat to tone; Miss G. Mcintosh, tailored brown, gooraette. velvet toque with eye veil; Miss D. Ewen (Wellington), ecru lace, brown picture hat.
