FIELD OF WATERLOO.
Danger of Road Works Spoiling Famous Site. CONCERN AROUSED. (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON. February 24. "The Times" Brussels correspondent says the question of preservation of the battlefield of Waterloo is causing concern in British and Belgian circles. Belgium legislated in 1014 to prevent encroachment on the battlefield but provincial authorities now propose road works which would alter the appearance of the area adjacent to the Mound, on which the famous Lion of Waterloo stands. The British Ambassador has sent a letter to the Minister urging action "to protect one of the most interesting points of the battlefield."
