LABOUR PARTY.
MEETING OF MAORIS.
PROBLEMS TO BE DISCUSSED.
A largely attended meeting of the Central Committee (Auckland Area) of the Maori labour party was held in the Labour Clubrooms, when delegates from the various Maori centres were in attendance. The chairman, Mr. Waimate -Anaru, presided.
The principal matter for di*cus«=ion was the summoning of a general meeting of Maoris living: in the citv and surrounding districts to meet the"Ri<>ht Hon. M. .T. Savage, Minister of Native Affairs, on the occasion of his forthcoming visit to Auckland to place before him urgent matters affecting the welfare of the Maori people. An enthusiastic welcome to the meeting was aliso extended to Mr. \ Osborne. M.P. for Manukau. and to Mr! J. T. Jennings, president of the Auckland branch of the Labour party. A further meeting' will be held tomorrow to finalise arrangements.
