OLD-FASHIONED JEWELS.
So manj' family jewels are being sent to the jewellers to be cleaned and reeet to conform with modern taste that it is possible to form some idea of the stones that will be in favour at the Coronation, states a London writer.
Diamonds will, of course, predominate in the ornamente worn by the younger peeresses, but fine-coloured stonee are likely to be worn by many woman of an older generation.
Emeralds and sapphires appear to be in the greatest favour, but rubies are also likely to be worn.
Many old families have wonderful collections of these coloured geme, some of them being heirlooms worn at the Coronation of Queen Victoria.
