PICNICS.
OTA-HUHU WORKSHOP OUTING K. MUNRO WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. Under ideal weather conditions and perfect organisation, the annual picnic of the Otahuhu railway workshops, held at, Motuihi Island, was an outstanding success. Approximately 1800 picnickers Journeyed by the B.s. Rangitoto to the island, where an energetic committee under the leadership of Mr. Joe McDowell as chairman saw that everything ran to schedule. The success of the outing was due to the specialised work of the section committees. Mr. A. Vause (chairman), Mr. W. Pearson (secretary) and a strong committee had control of the children's entertainment, while Mr. J. W. Harvey (chairman) and Mr. P. W. Child (secretary) and a committee controlled the' adult programme. A bright musical programme was rendered by the Onehunga Band.
