ELLERSLIE TRACK.

THIS MORNING'S WORK. SOME SMART EFFORTS RECORDED. At Ellerslie thus morning the bulk of the fast work was carried out on the No. 1 grass track, on which the poles were 10ft out. The weather was fine and the going in excellent order. Several horses with engagements at Te Aroha were sprinted, the best efforts being those of Glen Abb, Jack Tar, Fleetwind and Valspear. Kilonsa opened proceedings by covering six furlongs very easily in 1.26 4-5. White Foam (Gilchrist) reeled off three furlongs in 38 2-os, and over a similar distance Aero King registered 41 4-ss, doing it comfortably. Knight of Australia. (Dulieu) and Speed fast (Coon) got to the end of a round in 2.5 4-5. They were not unduly bustled and there wa« little between thei.i at the finish. Vabpear sprinted five furlongs in 1.5 1-5. He finished on strongly. Elanage (Green) came home from the three-furlong post in 38 l-os. The two-year-old is shaping well. Fleetwind (Gilchrist) traversed five furlongs in 1.3 3-ss, the last half mile taking 49 3-ss. It was the best of the morning over the distance. Gay Broney (Fearn) worked leisirrely over five furlongs, which occupied 1.12 1-5. Ringshot (Gilchrist), after taking 40 3-5s for his first three, completed seven furlongs in 1.33. He was going very evenly throughout. Glen Abb (Wiggins) and Jack Tar (Green) jumped off at the halfmile post and after taking 12 2-5s for the first furlong finished up their tasli in 49 4-ss. They both put plenty of dash into their work and were about on term* at the end. Droll (Murray) and Marjory Daw (Vaughan) a lot of speed on when they went away from the threefurlong post and ran home in 37 3-ss. Lady Vaalß (Gilchrist), Siega (Vaughan) and Land Girl (Murray) completed half a mile in 51 4-ss. Land Girl was two lengths in front. Seven Seas (Gilchrist) was clear of Te Hai (Manson) at the conclusion of five furlongs run in 1.5. On the tan Kelly was under restraint while covering a round in 2.1, the last six furlongs taking 1.28. Master Brierly did useful work on the same track, finishing up by sprinting the last half mile in 57 3-ss. The Jumpers. United (Turvey) was schooled over four hurdles in the centre, shaping satisfactorily. I Chief Emerald (Turvey) and High Star (Williams) were companions over six hurdles. Chief Emerald fenced with plenty of dash and High Star's showing was an improvement upon any of hi« past efforts.
