The Point Chevalier Baillng dnb held its annual open regatta yesterday afternoon, all events starting and i»ni«M-ir off the clubhouse, Joan Street. The wind was light all day, especially in the morning, and a number of the boats were unable to get up harbour in time to start. The breese waa light easterly at first, which, after a calm spell, went to the south and for half an hour it was fresher. It died away again at 4-30, finally coming from the east, but wit £ Uttle weight, and the races were late m finishing, the last boat being after 7 pan Some close finishes were recorded on handicap, Jewel winning the V class race oy la from Biptide. In spite of the light breese 70 boats started and the majority completed the course, the largest field beinc 10 in the M and Y class. ,b and N Class.—This race started pjn. V and M Class.—This was the last race of the day, 19 boats starting in fairly close order at 3 p.m. Paroro was over the line and failed to return. Jewel waa first away, followed by Mawhtti, Limerick, and the other* handy. Z Class. —This race started at 3.20 p.m.,Ranonl being first away, followed - by Knpe, Te Utu, Avon, Water Beetle' and seven others.
