FRAXKHAM BREAKS N.Z. RECORD

Members of the Australian life-saving team competed at the North Shore Amateur Swimming Club's carnival at Miliord Tool on Saturday night. The outstanding performance was that of Bob 1-rankliam. Before winning the final of the 100 yards handicap his time in the heat wa« 54 l-ss, thus knocking two-fifths of a second off his own Dominion record of 54 3-os.

Usher, who received a etart_ of 54s from him. A. Carrier, is, and K. Foster, 3s, were second and third respectively in the 100 yards final, won by J*rankham. The Australian representative in the 220 yards handicap, Hodgson, was watched witli interest. He was on scratch and found his handicap too heavy to enable him to overtake J. F. Smith, who was on 345, yet beat him for first place by no more than three yards. Detailed results: —
