TRAFFIC INSPECTORS.
THREE MEN APPOINTED. Over 40 men were interviewed last night by the legal and by-laws committee of the Auckland City Council, whose task it was •to select three men for positions as traffic inspectors, for which 320 applications had been received. Eventually Messrs. N. A. Lake, T. N. Herbert and R. B. Winthrop were selected. The large number of applications for the positions can largely be explained by the fact that applications were invited from married or single men from all parts of the Dominion, whereas on previous occasions applicants had to be married men and residents or ratepayers of Auckland.
