Record Returns for 1936 Announced. CHEAPER TELEGRAMS TAIL. (Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON", February .1. The Post Office accounts for the year ending March 31. 1031!, reveal a record surplus of £l-2,.->;!!>.000. Introduction of sixpenny telegrams resulted in a marked increase of business but not siimcicnt to cover costs. There v.-as a further substantial increase in the weight of the letter ailmails carried from the United Kingdom hist year, .ays a British official wireless nic Mage. Traffic on Empire services increased by 3.T per cent, while that to Europe showed an increase of 17!' per cent. The large increase in European traffic is hugely doe to a decision taken in March last to send first-class mails to a surcharge.
