YOUTH IN CAR.
INTOXICATION CHARGE.
TO COME UP FOR SENTENCE.
Arretted on January 29 for being in a state of intoxication while in ehar«e of a motor car in College Hill, a youth of 17, Leslie Francis Miller, appeared for sentence in the Police Court this morning. Sub-Inspector Fox said the case was complicated through the fact that a youth with Miller in the car gave a false name and address and haTl produced a driver's licence in that false nemo. It appeared that the other youth had hired the car and charges were pending against him in the Children's Court. Mr. K. C. Aekins, appealing for accused, said the other youth was teaching Miller to drive the car. Actually Miller had only been at the wheel of the car for a short time when the car Attracted tl e attention of the police because of the noise made in changing gears. Earlier in the day Miller 'had consumed a small bottle of beer and a half-handle of beer. Counsel suggested that Miller should not be fined, in view of the circumstances. Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., in convicting and ordering Miller to come •up for sentence if called upon within 12 months, ordered him not to drive and to refrain from intoxicating liquo& during this period.
