FRANCE'S DEFENCE.
Deputies Pass Expenditure of £190,000,000. MAGINOT LINE EXTENSION. PARIS, February 3. The Chamber of Deputies passed a vote of confidence in the liovernnient by 405 votes to 186 and authorised the expenditure of a sum of £190,000,000 on a comprehensive defence scheme.
Df the total named, £140,000,000 will be expended in the next three years. The Minister of Defence, M. Daladier, confirmed the extension of the Maginct line along the Swiss frontier and along the Belgian frontier to Dunkirk. M. Daladier congratulated Britain for modernising her defences. He sa?d that if a dictator declared war he would soon realise the soundness of France' 3 position. The defeat of France would be Europe's agony. All*her neighbours were arming and France must not remain inert or fall an easy prey.
