AWARD CLAIMS.
LOCAL BODY WORKERS FORTY-HOUR WEEK FIXED. WET WEATHER DELAYS. Award claims covering local body labourers (except in county councils) outside a radius of ten miles of the chief post office at Auckland were heard today in conciliation council before the commissioner, Mr. R. E. Price. Agreement had been readied on hours of work and several minor clauses by the luncheon adjournment. The employees were represented by Messrs. W. E. Anderson, secretary of the Employers' Association, W. Marshall. J. E. Tidd, W. Li. Waddel, and R. Worley, and the Auckland Builders', General and Other Labourers' Union by Messrs. T. Stanley, secretary, G. Green, A. Lees, and \V. Simmonds. Largely on the basis of the county councils' agreement, it was agreed to observe a 40-hour five-day week generally, provision being made for making up time lost ae a result of wet weather by " essential" workers, to the extent of an hour extra each day and 4i hours on Saturday at ordinary rates. Wages and holidays are among the questions being considered further this afternoon.
