FIRE AT SCHOOL.
GOOD SAVE AT HOWICK.
BUCKET BRIGADE FORMED.
An outbreak of fire occurred in the Howick School ehortly after 9 o'clock laet evening, when minor damage was done. The alarm was. giye.n by. the. occupants of a house adjoining the school, which has been unoccupied during the school holidays, and a bucket brigade, organised by Mr. F. A. Irvine and his family, prevented the fire from spreading. When the .fire brigade arrived no difficulty was experienced in suppressing the outbreak. The fire, which was confined to the eastern wall and windows, was extinguished with only one lead of 'hose, damage being estimated at £15.
The Howick School is the second building in the district which has caught fire in an unexplained manner in the last fortnight.
