SOLDIER SETTLERS. MORTGAGE ADMINISTRATION. NEW OFFICES IN AUCKLAND. A complete change in the administrative control of discharged soldier settlers' mortgagees will be cftectcd 011 Monday. Up till now the work involved in the administration of discharged soldier mortgagors' properties has been handled by the Department of Lands and Survey at New Plymouth. 011 Monday control will to the State Advances Corporation, and the adminis- i tration will be directed from the branch j ofiicc of the corporation at Auckland, i This branch has taken over commodious new offices in Civic House, 201, Queen Street, and with a reorganised staff, which includes a number of officers trained in discharged soldier settlement work in the Lands and Survey office, should.be able to give a satisfactory service to the soldier mortgagors. The branch manager, Mr. C. G. S. Ellis, was trained in the Lauds Department. and prior to his transfer was chief draughtsman for the Auckland district. He will be assisted by Mr. O. H. Burns, who was formerly accountant to the Lands and Survey Department in Cliristchurch. District Officers. 4 Under the new management the area under the control of the Auckland ofiicc comprises the whole of the North and South Auckland districts, extending as far south as Tauinarunui and taking in Ehakatane on the eastern boundary. The corporation will have its own* field staff in order that easy contact can be made with borrowers, and officers will be sta- | tinned at various centres throughout the area. Four officers will be stationed at Wlmngarei. In this district Mr. A. L. Flux will act as district appraiser. He is a man of considerable farming cxperi-j encc and while resident in the Te Kuiti l district he was chairman of the Returned j Soldiers' Association. Mr. Flux'will be assisted by Mr. F. S.-Beechinan, who,] until recently, has been employed as a j field inspector with the Lands and Sur-i vcy Department. Mr. S. P. Girdwood | and Mr. T. O'Carroll have been appointed as assistant appraisers in the same district. At Dargayille Mr. F. E. Barnard, who has had experience with a local stock agcncy firm, has taken up the duties of farm appraiser. The farm work in the immediate vicinity of Auckland will be under the supervision of Mr. G. E. Orr, who has had extensive experience in similar work with the Native and Agricultural Departments. The assistant appraisers in this district will be Mr. H. A. Pirrit, who has had practical experience as a farmer and more recently acted as a valuer in the Auckland district, and Mr. 11. Chapman who, in addition to practical farming experience, has had technical training at Lincoln College, near Cliristchurch. In South Auckland. The district appraiser at Hamilton will be Jlr. D. S. B. Heather, who has in recent years been farming 011 his own account in the Bay of Plenty, but formerly was an engineer and surveyor in the Lands and Survey Department. The assistant appraisers will be Mr. F. H. Brett, an ex-field inspector for the Lands and Survey Department, and Mr. R. R. Atkinson, who has been engaged in farming and valuation work in the district. At Paeroa the farm appraiser will be Mr. J. G. Brand, who was formerly a field inspector for the Lands and Survey Department. 1 Mr. M. D. Denize, who has been farming and doing valuat>ns for the Government in this district, will be farm appraiser at Tauranga. He will be* assisted by Mr. C. O. Baylcy, who has had considerable local experience of ! farming conditions in the district. At Whakatane the farm appraiser will be Mr. J. A: Grist, an ex-field inspector of the Lands Department. The district appraiser at Te Kuiti will be Mr. J. G. McKenzie, who has been transferred from the Lands and Survey Department, where lie. was a field inspector and farm manager.
