INDICATOR (Three Kings).—"Stepping Toes," which is now under way, is to be the final Astaire-Rogers musical. The studio considers the public has had enough of the team, and. rather than allow the partnership to slide into oblivion by degrees, has decided to feature each separately in musicals. Ginger's first picture solo after "Stepping Toes'' will thus be "Vivacious Lady," with James Stewart as leading man. and this will be succeeded by the long-delayed "Mother Carey's Chickens." Astaire's will be the P. G. Wodeliouse story. "A Damsel in Distress." with at least four ladies to twirl into terpsicliorean and cinematic stardom. George and Ira Gershwin are writing songs for "Stepping Toes" and "A Damsel in Distress." Fred's partners have not yet been chose"*! There was talk of Jessie Matthews or Anna Neagle being invited, but both these stars have recently intimated their preference to remain in England.
