CHARGE DISMISSED.
CROSSING FATALITY CASE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTOX X., Wednesday. As an outcome of the fatal collision between a train and a motor car at the West Street crossing, Pahnereton North, on Dacember fi, Lawrence Ernest Paw<;on. farmer, of Dannevirke. was charged in the Pulice Court to-day with negligently driving a car. thereby causing the death of Miriam Pawson, his wife. In a statement made by accueed to a constable when in the hospital, accused said he was watching a railcar on the left side, which also was; proceeding toward the crossing, and was very surprised when, jiiet at the crossing, he saw the train on top of him. After hearing further evidence, the magistrate, Mr. J. L. Stout, held that there wae not sufficient evidence to justify the case going to the Supreme Court and dismissed the charge.
