SOME USEFUL SPRINTS.
TOOLEY STREET BEST.
WHITE FOAM IMPROVING.
THIS MORNING'S WORK.
No. 3 grass track was available at Ellerslie for fast work, and although the conditions were perfect there was not a great deal of galloping.
High Star (Murray) and Ringahot (Vaughan) got to the end of six furlongs in 1.17 3-5. They ran the first three in 38 2-ss, and High Star had the advantage at the finish. Huntsman's Chorus (Craig) ran the last six furlongs of his work in 1.21 4-5. This novice looks well, but his form has not been as good as promised early in the season. Backblock (Kearns), Lone Flier (Cameron) and Overdue _ (Clark) reeled off three furlongs in 37 3-ss. It was a useful effort and there was not much between them at the finish. Gay Broney (Fearn) completed n round in 1.48 1-5. He ran the last six in 1.23 3-5, and the final three furlongs in 41 l-ss. Seven Seas (G. Gilchrist) snrinted half a mile in 50 3-ss. He was running on strongly at the finish. Tooley Street, after taking 2;'ss for his first two furlongs, ran five in 1.3. It was a smart effort and indicates that the Surveyor gelding is coining back to his best. Tidewaiter (Murray). Raepata (Goldfinch) and Glen Abb (Wiggins) were associated over five furlongs, which occupied 1.3 4-5. They ran the first two in 24 4-ss, and all did their work well. White Foam trotted round to the three-furlong post and ran home in 37 3-ss. This filly has improved in condition during the last few weeks.
On the two-year-old track Miss Appellant ran a couple of furlongs in 25 2-ss. A number of other horses were allotted useful tasks on the sand and tan tracks.
