KEEN INQUIRY FOR PIGS. t The yarding of all classes of stock at the weekly sale held at irankton yesterday was very small, report Dalgety and Company. !ut Sheep.—Prices were higher than the last sale before the holidays. Prime lat wethers, 27, 6 to 29 ; medium and lightweight wethers, 25/ to 26, (j; l'at ewes, 20/6 to 22/. iat Lambs.—Prices were on a par with late rates, all selling at over schedule rates. Good freezing lambs, 24 6 to 26/;: light lambs, 20/ to 21/9; unfinished lainbs, 18/ to 19/9. Fat Cattle.—A good demand, and very full late rates were obtained. Light fat steers, £10; fat Jersey cows and heifers, £5 5/ to £6 17/6; fleshy cows, £3 12/6 to £4 5/; boners, 45/ to 57/; light ditto, 35/ to 41/. Pigs. -A medium yarding of pigs came forward before a full bench of buyers, and a consistently good sale resulted. Very keen competition was evinced on buttermilk pigs. Top price for baeonars realised was £3 13/. We quote:—Prime heavy baconers, £3 8/ to £3 13/; heavy baconerg, £3 5/ to 3/8; medium baconers, £3 to £3 5/; light ditto, £2 15/ to £3; heavy buttermilk pigs, £2 12/ to £2 17/; medium ditto, £2 8/ to £2 12/; heavy porkers, £2 5/ to £2 10/; medium ditto, £2 to £2 5/; light ditto, £1 16./ to £2; small ditto, £1 10/ to £1 16/. Store pigs met with average demand, and a total clearance was effected at full market rates. We quote:—Large store pigs, 28/ to 32/; medium ditto, 24/ to 28/; small ditto, 20/ to 24/; best slips, 18/ to >22/; best weaners, 18/ to 20/; others, 10/ to 15/. All classes of cattle sold at values equal to those rutin# at the end ot--last year, and under gooi& competition. Quotations; —Dairy cow* and heifers, close to profit and in milk, ; Up to £6 2/6; bulls, £2 7/6 to £5 15/; fit: cows and heifers, to £6 18/6; cows, withcalf at foot, £2 10/ to £6 15/, according; to size and quality. Boners and meaty covs sold briskly under good competition.
