WHITIANGA CAMPERS.

LEAVING IN HURRY. WATER SUPPLY CUT OFF. I (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHITIANGA, this day. Bad weather conditions again prevail j •t Whitianga, though the rain has not! been sufficient to cause flooding. The two-day dry spell broke about 9 p.m. last night, when light rain began, accompanied by a driving wind. This morning, however, the wind had risen to j half a gale, while the rain was both heavy and steady. i Campers left the township in dozens during the morning, fearing to be held in Whitianga by a flooded highway as they were last week. Many of them •till have a good many days before their holidays are finished, but they are not willing to take the risk of a flood. j A slip in the hills last night has blocked the township's water supply. 1 The reservoir is small, just large enough to meet the needs' of the township, and it is open to the sky. The slip fell into the reservoir itself and blocked the outlet pipe. The township has had recourse to tanks. Perhaps it is -an ill wind that blows nobody any good, because residents ha ce no fear that the supply in their tanks will not be. adequate. j
