"The second race for the Cornwell Cup was sailed this morning on a triangular course, in a hard easterly wind and heavy rain. Phmmerton led over half way round the coilrse, then she carried away the main halyard and retired. Tanrahga then took the lead, and shortly after capsized. Christchureh, which had been a close' third ? throughout, went ahead. Auckland, from a good start, was doing well when the skipper left the other boats and stood right across harbour on his own. This was a big mistake, as she was last to finish. Result.:—Christchnrch llh 59m 525, Hamilton 12h Im Ji, Whakatane 12h 8m 40s, Wellington 12h 9i% 48s, Auckland 12h 14m 275. The others did not finish, while Lyttelton did not start at all.
