LAXITY DENIED.

PERMITS FOR CHILDREN. TRAVELLERS FROM DUNEDIN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Wellington allegations of grave laxity in issuing permits allowing persons to travel with children from Dtmedin are declared to be without foundation. Anyone travelling with children or having contact- with children mnst obtain a permit and each application is investigated on its merit, no permit being issued unless the reason advanced is j sufficient. Naturally applicants' statements have 'to be accepted to some; extent on their face value, andittafew cases there may be misrepresentation. The names of persons travelling on permit; and all details, are telegraphed to the health office of the district concerned, any subsequent steps being in discretion of such officer, who may impose a period of quarantine. The railways ban has been strictly enforced, while road patrols are vigilant and the authorities are doing all possible short of absolute isolation. There are no fresh cases, but a young man, aged 21, admitted yesterday, has been diatmo«ed as positive without paralysis. The annual camp of the Otago Mounted' Rifles' has been postponed.
