SMALL FIRE DAMAGE.
OUTBREAKS AT HAMILTON. (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Friday. Damage by fire at Hamilton in 193G was estimated a*, less than £800. The brigade received 48. calls, only half being to .outbreaks involving damage to property. The remaining calls were to fires in gorse and Mrub and to chimney outbreaks. The brigade also experienced a quiet period in 1935. It is some years since a serious outbreak of fire occurred in Hamilton. Arrangements have been made by the Hamilton Fire Board to purchase a section adjoining the present station, and on this a new building will be erected to meet the growing needs of the brigade. A new fire engine, equipped with pumps capable of drawing water at the rata of 400 gallons a minute, has been purchased, and will be delivered shortly.
