SEQUEL TO COLLISION.

■ I — i (By Telegraph—-I'ress Association.) DANNEVIRKE, this day. The death occurred at the Dannevirke • Public Hospital this morning of Mr. Robert Wright, aged 60, relieving ofticer in charge of the Agricultural Department at Dannevirke, who was involved in a collision with a car at Woodville on ' Saturday when crossing the road on leaving the racecourse. Mr. Wright had his left leg and some ribs broken, besides_ , suffering severely from shock. He was previously chief inspector of stock at Wellington. Nelson, Marlborough, Taranaki and Hawke's Bay, and retired on • superannuation two years ago.

BUSH MISHAP.

TIMBER WORKER INJURED,

Struck by a chain during timber hauling operations in the bush at Ness Valley, near Clevedon, Mr. Alfred Boric, aged 23, single, suffered concussion and a badly torn ear. He was attended to by Dr. H. Dunedin, slipped and fell between the platform and the bogey of a carriage, suffering severe injuries to the back and legs. He was removed to the Thames Hospital, where a foot wae I amputated.

He was returning from a Labeur party rally at Mount Maunganui and was travelling on tlie special rally train. He was reported this morning to be progressing satisfactorily.

MAN STRUCK BY TAXI,

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON N., Monday. When leaving the racecourse at Woodville yesterday Mr. Robert Wright, aged >6, an officer of the Agricultural De)artment at present relieving at Dannerirke, was knocked down by a taxi. He vas admitted to the Dannevirke Hos>ital with a broken leg. In an endeavour to avoid Mr. Wright he taxi-driver swerved and capsised his ar. The driver was not injured.

Knocked down by a motor cycle on the Great Xortli Road at 10.30 on SunJay morning, Mr. Charles Spragg, aged 31, married, of 8, Clieapside Street, Arch Hill, suffered extensive head injuries, ind was taken to tlx; Auckland Hosjital in a St. John ambulance. He is jrogressing favourably.
