TAKANINI TRIALS.

VALAMITO GOES NICELY. FLOOD TIDE'S EFFORT. The inside grass with the poles 10ft out, provided excellent going at Takanini this morning, some useful work being recorded. Valamito (Stone) and Lap Up (O'Brien) Were first out, and were sent seven furlongs, the former finishing a couple of lengths in front in 1.30 3-5, after running the first two furlongs in 25 3-ss, and the first half-mile in 50 3-ss. Mai de Mer (Stratton) was a couple of lengths in front of Doric Star (Sullivan) at the end of half a mile in 50 3-ss. Highborn (Fearn) was not after time while traversing five furlongs in 1.7 2-5.

Flood Tide (Bartle) and Con , Fuoco (Evans) were partners over a mile and a quarter. Flood Tide gave Con Fuoco four lengths' start, and beat him by two lengths in 2.11 4-5, after running the first half-mile in 54 2-ss, the first six furlongs in 1.20, and the first mile in 1.40. Flood Tide, who is working extremely well, is to go to Ellerslio on Thursday when he will probably gallop with Master Brierly. Surella (Fearn) went well over six furlongs in 1.16 2-5, running his last three furlongs in 37 2-ss. He finished well. Bachelor King (Bartle) ran half a mile in 51 3-ss, the last three furlongs taking 375. Trixie and Silver Glow jumped away a dozen lengths ahead of him at the three furlongs, but he was handy to them at the finish. Trixie also worked well.

Gay Talkie (Bartle) and Wait and See (Bell) were together throughout five furlongs in 1.2 3-5, the first two furlongs taking 25 l-ss. Both horses finished vV i. and there was little between them at >;he end. Gai Wind was sprinted three furlongs, and Dark Marble completed h".s "<vork on the plough with half a mile in 66 3-ss. BETTING AT STRATFORD.

The Stratford Racing Club lias decided to revert to the old system of betting tor its coming meeting. The contract ioi the .alterations and extensions to the totalisator has been let, and it is hoped to have tile new facilities ready for its tneeting in March.
