WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
NEW LYNN. The president's day of the New Lynn Institute was held yesterday, lunch being provided by the president, Mrs. Lawson. It was decided to donate the proceeds of the recent- social to the school committee for the dental clinic. Competitions were won by Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Wilson, and items were given by Mesdames Barrett, Stewart, Boler and Wilson. Mrs. Leslie Crane gave an excellent lecture on "Diet." KAIKOHE. The Kaikohe Women's Institute held a garden party at Mrs. Blow's residence recently. Mrs. Middleweek won the clock golf, Miss Mead the croquet ladder, and Mrs. Sinton the "Taipo," while Mrs. Ingram was successful in winning both the alarm clock and turkey competitions. In the competition for a Christmas gift to cost not more than 1/6, Mrs. W. Edwards was adjudged first. The president of the institute, Mrs. W. H. Moore, announced that as a result of the street stall in aid of the crippled children's fund, the local committee would benefit to the extent of £10 12/4. Arrangements were made for the exhibition of work at the forthcoming A. and P. Show, while matters were finalised with regard to the stall to be held for the Institute for the Blind.
