ART EXHIBITION.
PICTORIAL PHOTOGRAPHY. DISPLAY IN AUCKLAND. -An international exhibition of pictorial i photography will be opened at 1.30 p.m. [ tii-;no. iu\v .11 die Art Gallery by Mr. N. \ . Douglas, cliniruian of the library committee. Tha exhibition marks an epoch in photographic exhibitions, as it is the first ncciioion on which an international exhibition 01 turj'i importance has been shown in New Zealand. The collection has been brought togst'wr by the Western International Photographic Salon, the object of which is to exhibit "only that class of work m pictorial photography in which there is distinct artistic feeling and execution." The prints on view number approximately 170, unil represent the work of photographic artists of 34 countries, from China, to Peru, including some examples from the Dominion. Variety is the keynote of the collection, and examples of portrait and figure studies, animal studies, landscapes, seascapes, still life, architecture and industrial subjects are all represented. The exhibition was originally shown at the Clifton Art Club in Bristol, and has been brought to Auckland after a successful season im South Africa. From New Zealand the exhibition will be sent to Dublin.
