SIR C. CLIFFORD'S TEAM.
THREE FOR AUCKLAND. INCLUDING TRENCH FIGHT. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. H. and A. Cutts have their plans for the holidays well in hand now. They expect to have two teams in the North Island, with a total of eight horses on tour. H. Cutts will go to Auckland with three of Sir Charles Clifford's lot- Trench Fight will be the star of the party, his main engagement being the Great Northern Derby, but he has been nominated for other events also. With Mala spelling before going back to Australia, and Gallio retired as a result of breaking down, the Derby field has been weakened, but the Winning Hit colt will have Custos, Mandamus and Martara as probable opponents. Bun Fight and Impersonator will be mates for Trench Fight on the trip, and they have been freely nominated for events on the four days. The idea of sending the two-year-old Mob Rule to Auckland has been dropped. The check in her work, due to a mishap during the recent meeting at Riccarton, has left her backward, and her reappearance will be delayed until after the lioliA. Cutts will be in charge of the other touring team, which will number five. Sir Charles Clifford will have Paper Slipper, Top Notch and ,Day Dress, while Mr. G. R Macdonald has decided to include lherniidor and the two-year-old Lazybones in the party. These horses have been freely nominated for the Manawatu and Wairarapa meetings. The Derby winner Wild Chase will not be seen during the holiday period. He has been spelling since the Riccarton carnival, where he won three races, but lie is ready to resume work and lie may be in action again at Trentham in January. Counterblast, one of the best two-year-olds of the season so far, is on the easy list yet. Her knees caused trouble after her recent racing, but she may be got ready for another trial in the autumn.
