TOTALIS AT OR RETURNS. LONG 'WASvTO GO TO REACH 1920. ;Though'.''the ■ totalisator returns have shown a great increase this season as compared with last season, racing clubs have still a, long way to go to reach the investments made during the season 1920-21. The Waikato Racing Club, for instance, recently put through £7i,920 10/ for their two days. They had no spring meeting in 1920, but at their summer meeting in February, 1921, at Claudelands, they handled £109,846 10/. The Avondale Jockey Club, at their spring meeting last September, put through £51,444 10/, while in 1920 the total was £126,900 10/. The betting at the last Auckland spring fixture totalled £60,376, compared with £152,398 10/, while ' at their summer meeting in 1920-21 they put through £511,455 10/. The Takapuna Jockey .Club, racing on their own course at Devonport in 1920, 'had £134,379 10/ invested .for the two days. Last Saturday and ; Monday at Ellerslie the sum of £58,953. 10/ was handled.
