HOWICK TOWN BOARD
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Howick Town Board was held on Thursday evening, Mr. H. H. Bushell presiding. Coronation Celebrations.—lt was decided to call a public meeting to set up a committee to act in conjunction with the Town Board in organising suitable functions to celebrate the King's coronation. Cockle Bay Parking Area.—The board decided to prohibit parking of cars on the southern side of' Shelly Beach Parade, Cockle Bay. Cemetery Reserve. —The clerk was instructed to call tenders for the grazing rights of the Cemetery Reserve for a term of one year from December-17. Bicycles On Footpaths.—The attention of the board was drawn to the prevalence of the practice of riding bicycles on the footpaths. It was decided that the local constable be requested to prosecute all offenders without further warning. Fire Alarm System.—The clerk reported progress in the installation of the telephonic alarm system, and expected that the system would be in full operation by Christmas.
