The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated November 28, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand:— Tallow.—-Auctions will be held on December 2; spot market steady. Hemp.—Manila: Strong market, large business has been done. K grade for November-January shipments sold at £29 10/. Sisal: Market steady, with fair inquiry. November-December shipments sold at £27; January-March shipments, £26 15/. New Zealand: Market quiet and nominal on basis of "Fair," £22. Apples.—Little more demand for better grades. Californian Newton, 7/9 to 10/6; Oregon Newton, 10/6 to 12/6; Washington Jonathans, 9/ to 10/6; British Columbian Jonathan, 8/ to 11/. Pears.—Little more demand. Californian Winter Nelis, 12/ to 13/; Beurre Bosc, 11/6 to Cornice, 13/ to 15/. Eggs.—Market slow and irregular; English market steadier. English, national pack, 18/6 to 24/; ordinary pack, 19/ to 23/; Danish, 12/3 to 17/; Australian, 10/3 to 12/9; New Zealand, slow. Tamaroa not cleared. Peas.—Maples: Market quiet, slightly easier; stops early this month. New Zealand afloat sold according to sample at 52/6 to 57/. No. 1 for NovemberDecember shipments 56/6 recently- Close
