TAKAPUNA CLUB.

THE FINAL DAY. KING BEY WINS ST. ANDREW'S i IMPASTO THE -SPRINT. The spring meeting of the Takapuna Jockey Club was concluded at Ellerslie yesterday in showery weather. There was a good attendance in the circumstances. The track was on . the dead side, but nevertheless there was some good racing. During the day the sum of £27,602 10/ was put through the machine, compared with £21,132 10/ for the corresponding day last year, an increase of £0470. This made a total for the two days of £55,953 10/ against £45,795 10/ for the previous spring meeting—an increase of £10,158.

An inquiry was held concerning alleged interference in the Cheltenham Handicap on Saturday and it was found that H. 2sT. Wiggins was guilty of careless riding. He was suspended for three weeks. Public on the Mark. The finish of the St. Andrew's Handicap was fought out by the three chief fancies—King Key, Armacourt and Mazir. The first to move were Mazir and Namakia, and the latter set the main along the back from Kelly, Knight of Australia, King Key, Jonathan, Crooning and Armacourt. Across the top Namakia was still the pilot and was a shade clear of Knight of Australia, King Key, Prince Colossus, Crooning, Armacourt, Kelly, Sinking Fund, Mazir and Big Dook. The field then began to close up a little, and the order into the straight was Namakia, Knight of Australia, King Rey, Armacourt, Prince Colossus, Sinking Fund, Kelly, Mazir and Con Fuoco. Over the deckling stages King Rey did best, and he -went on to beat Mazir by three-quarters of a length, with Armacourt half a length away. Wait and See was fourth, and then followed Crooning, High Tea, Jonathan, Big Dook and Namakia. The Juveniles. All paraded for the Rakino Handicap, for two-year-olds, and Privy Seal, Bachelor King and Elanage were most in demand. Feldberg and Huntingmore were first to break the line, but Bachelor King soon ran through and led across the top from Huntingmore, Highborn, Feldberg, Nuclei, Privy Seal and Son of the Soil. Highborn then took charge and was first round the bend from Bachelor King, Huntingmore, Feldberg, Son of the Soil, Elanage and Nuclei. Nuclei then put in her challenge, and, finishing on well, went o"n to beat Bachelor King by three-quarters of a length, with Highborn half a length further back. The next to finish were Elanage, Huntingmore, Disturbed, Feldberg, Miss Appellant and Barricade. A few yards off the post Privy Seal appeared to be squeezed, and her rider, H. Wiggins, was unseated. The Plate. Five horses were withdrawn from the Pupuke Plate, and the best backed were Kilonsa, Uantry and Iriver, but a surprise was in store, the little-fancied Sweet Rose scoring comfortably and returning her supporters on the win machine over a quarter of a century. Bantry was a trifle slow away, and the first prominent werp Merial, Tosh, Sweet Rose and Alyth. However, Sweet Rose soon ran to the front, and along the back she was attended by Alyth, Quadroon, Xnver, Merial, Kilonsa, Bantry, Tosh and Mainland. Sweet Rose was about a length in front of Quadroon as the field came into th,e straight, with Inver, Kilonsa, Tosh and Bantry next. Nothing had a chance with Sweet Rose, and she went on to win comfortably by a length and a half from Kilonsa, who beat Quadroon by three-quarters of a length.; Inver was fourth, and then came Mainland. Bantry, Merial, Alyth, Aymon, and Tosh. The Ngataringa. All the acceptors went to the post in the Ngataringa Handicap, most support coming for Tybalt, Impasto and Shy. Impasto jumped out smartly and was followed by Princess Star, Sir Tommy and Tybalt, and crossing the topImpasto and Johnny Walls were on terms, followed by Lady Ruler, Gold Pocket and Sir Tommy. Turning for home Impasto and Johnny Walls still, held sway, with Sir Tommy, Lady Ruler, Gold Pocket. Tybalt and Princess Star next. Impasto drew out a little further on and, though challenged by Tybalt, held on to beat the latter by a neck, with Johnny Walls a similar distance away. Princess Star, Lady Ruler, Shy, Sir Tommy and Gold Pocket were next. Spearcourt Surprises. King Theo, Shining Spear and Poker Face were not saddled up for the Stanley Handicap, for which Loombination, Student Prince and Philemup were most fancied. Philemup led along the back from Spearcourt," Loombination, Raee.tte and Student Prince. Crossing the top Philemup' was followed by Student Prince, Spearcourt, Lpombination, Dutch Girl and King Tut a,nd except that the last-named had moved up there was little alteration at the home turn. Spearcourt then > took, charge . and' went on to win by two lengths from King Tut, who beat Loombination by a neck. Then came Philemup; High Quality, Dutch Girl, Student Prince and Racette. The winner paid a good double-figure dividend on the straight-out machine. Later results are:— ST. AXDREW'S HAXDICAP of £300. ; One mile. ' ' 1 I—KIXG REY, br g, aged, by Raceful—Hilinar (Mrs. F. M.
