LOVELOCK'S RETURN.

EXHIBITION RUN.

APPEARANCE ON SATURDAY,

J. E. Lovelock, the famous New Zealand athlete, is due to reach Auckland this evening from Rotorua, where he has been spending a few days' lioliday, and next Saturday will appear at a sports carnival which is to be held in his honour at Carlaw Park; The carnival is being staged by the Auckland Amateur Athletic Centre, and he will run in a mile event, in which he will be accompanied by several of Auckland's best distance men. He will also give a short address to the spectators. The New Zealand athlete has made an extensive tour of the Dominion, and has given, addresses to a large number of school children.

The original arrangements were that Mr. Lovelock should leave Auckland on December 12 on his way back to England, but both the Matson liners liave been delayed, and it is not yet fixed by what route lie will return. Record Entries. Record entries have been received for the carnival, and 229 athletes will take part in the programme. Lovelock's companions in his exhibition run will be Cooper, Wade and probably Savidan. Five present and past champions will take part in the 440 yards invitation race. There are 42 entries for the 100 yards event. 29 for the mile and 2S for the half-mile. There are big fields in the junior races.
