ST. ANDREW'S DAY.

AUCKLAND CELEBRATIONS,

The St. Andrew's Day celebration was held last evening by the Auckland St. Andrew's Society in the concert chamber of the Town Hall. The president, Mr. David McLaren, accompanied by two past presidents, Mr. John Barr and Mr. John W. Bissett, and Mr. Sinclair, chief of the Otahuliu Caledonian Society, and the secretary, Air. J. R. Hardie, was piped into the hall and on to the dais by Pipe Alajor D. Ferguson. After the National Anthem, the president extended a hearty welcome to the members and representatives of kindred Scottish societies. The guest of the evening, Past President John Barr, then gave an instructive address on St. Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland.

The concert programme was sustained by Air. George G. Spicer, Aliss Atkins and Alesdames D. AlcLaren and G. Henderson. Highland dancing was given by pupils of Aliss Cwen AleXaughton. Aliss Lillian Braitliwaite was the accompanist. The vote of thanks was proposed by Air. J. W. Bissett.

Supper was then served by the ladies' executive, comprising Alesdames J. K. Black, J. R. McLaren, Bissett, Spiccr, Lornie, AlcKain, Goldic, Robertson, Douglas, Brown, Frazer, White and Alisses Douglas and Barbour. Scottish dances were then enjoyed to the aecom, paniment of the pipes. Air. Braekenrido-e officiated as master of ccrcmonics.
