— POLICE FIND HUSBAND. UNDEFENDED DIVORCES A wife who had come from R.otorua to Auckland, there to await advice from her husband to join liini in Gisborne, ; and who had to obtain the assistance of the police to ascertain her husband's whereabouts, was one of four petitioners in undefended divorce suits heard in the Supreme Court this morning before Mr. Justice Smith. The petitioner, Mary Elaine Dra.bblc (Mr. Spring), stated that she was married in 1919 to Frederick Layne Drabble. There were three .children of the mairiage. By arrangement witli her husband she came to Auckland in 1929. When she did not hear from him she took maintenance proceedings, and her husband was arrested in Taranaki. He had since served two periods of imprisonment ' for failing to comply with maintenance orders. At the present time the arrears were about £300. Petitioner added that she had not lived with her husband since 1929 and had had to earn her own livelihood. A decree nisi was granted on the ground of constructive desertion. Husband's Misconduct.
