"For Mr. Holland to try and convince the public that I would lie about i any man is niore than he can do. The people know I attack with truth. 1 may be hard and ray words may sting and hurt, but I do not indulge in lying." This statement was made to-day by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple," in reply to that made by Mr. S. G. Holland, M.P. for Christchurcli North, yesterday. After reiterating the statement that several members of the Opposition had expressed regret at the action of Mi. Holland raising in the _ House of Representatives the question of the appointment of Mr. Sempie's son traffic inspector, Mr. Semple said he would never accuse Mr. Forbes or Mi. Coates of descending to the level of attacking him in that way, nor would he accuse Mr. Hamilton, the present National leader. "Their conception of clean fighting and political morality is above that," said Mr. Semple. "I expect that kind of stuff from political infants and individuals with unbalanced minds."
