SURELLA GOES FAST.

I FLOOD TIDE AND CON FUOCO. At Takanini this morning fast work was carried out on the inside grass, the going being good and some fast times were recorded. A feature of the morning was a sprint from the barrier in which seven horses participated, Mr. G. L. Stead officiating. The horses were Mai de Mer, Doric Star, Elanage, Inquisitor, Min Lu. Silver Glow and High Sea. Mai de Mer and Doric Star began quickest, running to the tln'ecfurlong post in 3(5 2-5s £nd continuing 011 to the five in 1.2 2-u. Klanage and Inquisitor were eased up after going a ! furlong and then afterwards sprinted two furlongs. The others were pulled up after going a short distance from the barrier. Inver (Bartle), Valamito (Stone) and Ebb and Flow (light boy) were in that order after, running six furlpngs in 1.16 4-5, the first three taking 36 4-:*!. Inver worked well and Ebb and Flow also pleased. Surella (Fearn) finished in front of Royal Passage (Evans) at the concluIsion of five furlongs, from a, standing [start, in 1.2 3-5, the last half-mile taking 48 3-Ss. Flood Tide (Bartle), Con Fuoco 1 (Fearn) and Wait and See (Pell) were associated over seven .furlongs, run in 1.29. Flood Tide and C'oll Fuoco ran their first three furlongs in 38 l-5s and the initial five in 1.3, They finished on terms, with Wait and See a couple of lengths away. Choice impressed more than Keith Lu while traversing five furlongs in 1.5. the first three taking 38s. High Born pleased better than Disturbed over three furlongs, which took 375. High Quality worked over seven furlongs, but was not timed. Jumpws. Lady Ruler (Walters) and Spearcourt (Baker) were sent over four hurdles, giving a fast and clever display. Lap Up (Muir). Merry Lap (Baker) and Dark Marble (Stewart) worked over a mile and three-quarters ana jumped four hurdles on the journey. Dark Marble hit the first fence and failed to show his usual clash afterwards, the other pair giving a good display.
