When schooling in company with Mowgli at New Plymouth yesterday morning, Kaola fell and broke his neck, death being instantaneous. Kaola was engaged at the Waikato meeting on Saturday. For many years Bedford, who was 25 years old, had been glazing on a farm 'at Kiwitahi. He was bred by Mr. F. J. Marshall, of Morrinsville, and did all his racing in Mr. Marshall's colours. Mr. Marshall showed his appreciation by retaining Bedford until the end, and giving him an easy life when his racing days were over.
