BEER OVER FENCE.
LICENSEE TO FAY FINE OF £5. The licensee of the Robert Burns Hotel, Michael Leonard (Mr. McVeagli) was charged on summons in the Police Court yesterday with selling liquor after hours. He pleaded guilty. The police stated that a man was seen leaving an alley near the hotel on a recent Sunday morning with three bottles of beer. The licensee frankly admitted handing the liquor over a fence to the man. JfhePe had been no previous complaints regarding the conduct of defendant's hotel. The licensee was fined £5, and the man who obtained the beer, Jack N. Crowle, was fined £1 for assisting in the commissiou of an offence.
