MEMORIAL TO CAPT. FKYATT. BRUGES. A memorial plaque to Captain Fryatt, master of the British steamer Brussels, "who was eliot by ( the Germans' on July 27, 1016, was unveiled here in the English Church by the Governor of the Province of Flanders. Among those present were Burgomaster van Hoestemberg, who witnessed the execution. * Captain Fryatt was- taken in charge by a German torpedo boat flotilla in June, 1916, during one of his regular trips between England and Holland in command of the Great Eastern Railway steamer Brussels. He was charged with having "rammed and sunk" the German submarine U. 33, which challenged him to stop on March 28, 1916, and was condemned to death as a franc-tireur.
