LANCASHIRE SOCIETY.
The Lancashire Society held its fortnightly social in the Arts Hall, Ivitchener Street, over 150 members being present. Mr. Smith presided, and Mrs. James Gates acted as hostess. As members only were admitted, an entirely Lancashire programme was presented, the dialect and items causing much amusement. Mr. and Mrs. ITardwick presented "An Opera Burlesque"; Mrs. Marshall, Lancashire recitations; Mr. Lloyd and Miss E. Taylor, piano-accordion and violin duet; and Mr. Massey a humorous monologue. A dainty supper was handed round by the hostesses, Mesdames Gates, Kershaw, Woolley, Davey, Cross, Reardon and Miss Green. Dance music was supplied by Mr. Lloyd and Mr. E. A. Blake (drums) and Miss E. Taylor (piano).
